Journalist

from San Francisco, California.

Intro

I recently graduated this past May from Syracuse University with a B.S. in Magazine, News and Digital Journalism at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications and a B.S. in Political Science at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs.

Work

In my four years at Syracuse University, I have been given many amazing opportunities as a freelance journalist and content creator for student-run media outlets. Most notably, I dove deep into how the legalization of online sports betting effects college students and the role college campuses have in combatting an increase in problem gamblers. As a digital producer and editor for The NewsHouse, I curated newsletters and social media posts and edited copy while spearheading a multi-media, long-form feature package about the unwritten rules of campus culture at Syracuse. During my junior year, I contributed to a NewsHouse project commemorating the 50th anniversary of Title IX. I wrote about the Vera House, a non-profit organization aimed at ending domestic violence and other forms of abuse. The article was published alongside a radio piece that aired on WAER, a radio station in Syracuse. I also wrote about the doulas at the Sankofa Reproductive Health and Healing Center. The article was featured in the print summer edition of The Stand, Syracuse's Southside community newspaper. Researching both the Vera House as well as the Sankofa Reproductive Health and Healing Center gave me the opportunity to explore the greater Syracuse community.

These experiences have confirmed my suspicion that writing — across all media — is my calling. I look forward to a career that uses my skills as a communicator, researcher, creative thinker and envelope pusher.
